Day 27:

A Divine Representation

Verse Startوَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى جَاعِلٌۭ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ خَلِيفَةًۭ ۖVerse End

‘Remember˺ when your Lord said to the angels, “I am going to place a successive ˹human˺ authority on earth.”

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:30

Coaching Insight

God is telling the angels that we are His representatives on Earth.

Imagine the immense power, trust, and love contained in that declaration.

When we surrender and move away from our ego-driven desires, we become hollow instruments, allowing God’s light to flow through us. As humans, we usually question our worth, our abilities, and our purpose. We shrink into feelings of smallness, forgetting the Divine breath placed within us. But remember who you truly are, a magnificent creation shaped by ‘Al-Jalāl’ (The Majestic) Himself. God placed His love and trust in you, choosing you as a custodian of the Earth.

Even the Bible echoes this truth:

“You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written in your hearts, to be known and read by everybody.” – 2 Corinthians 3:2

So how will you carry this extraordinary title? How will you draw closer to Him, learn His attributes, and let them live through you?

We need to pause once in a while and ask ourselves: What do I need to do to become a mirror to the Divine? Imam Al-Ghazali, Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani, and many great philosophers spoke about cleansing the mirror of the heart so it can reflect the Divine Attributes.

All we truly need is to remember our essence, and to speak and act from that place of love, power, and truth.

“I’m just a little pencil in the hand of a writing God sending a love letter to the world”

St. Teresa of Calcutta

Daily Practice

Move through your day knowing God created you with power, love, and purpose.

Ask yourself: What can I change about myself to become a true representative of Allah? Are there any Names of Allah that I can embody?

You are God’s representative, own it, live it, speak it.

Before you begin, close your eyes and envision how you would act, speak, and move with this Divine intention.

Book Reference

“If you inquire, O student! how it is known that the heart of man has been created in accordance with the qualities of angels, seeing that the most of the qualities and attributes of angels are foreign to it, I reply, you know that there is not, in truth, any creature on the face of the earth more noble than man, and that it belongs to the dignity and perfection of every creature, to work out perseveringly that service for which it was created.”

The Alchemy of Happiness – Al Ghazzali

You are, have always been, and will always be, a divine part of the divine whole, a member of the body. That is why the act of rejoining the whole, of returning to God, is called remembrance. You actually choose to remember Who You Really Are, or to join together with the various parts of you to experience the all of you – which is to say, the All of Me.

Your job on Earth, therefore, is not to learn (because you already know), but to remember Who You Are. And to re-member who everyone else is. That is why a big part of your job is to remind others (that is, to remind them), so that they can remember also.”
