Day 34:

Look Into Your Soul

وَفِي أَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ

“as there are within yourselves. Can you not see?”

Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:21

Coaching Insight

Look into your soul. The path to God is not out there, it is within. The universe inside us holds mystic secrets. When we pause from our busy lives and look deeply within, a quiet truth begins to rise. It is as though we discover the missing link we were searching for all along.

Knowing who you are brings you closer to knowing your Creator. How can we grasp the magnificence of ‘Jalāl’ (Divine Majesty) if we remain disconnected from ourselves?

Even science, with all its discoveries, has not been able to explain the soul. Scientists can describe the brain, the body, and emotions, yet the soul remains untouched, a mystery only God knows. There is no scan or theory that can capture what the soul truly is. This makes the inner journey even more sacred. Existential psychologist Rollo May reminds us that ‘psyche’ in Greek means soul or breath of life, and that psychology was originally about understanding the depths of the human spirit.

At times, it feels easier to stay on the surface, out of fear of what we may find. Life pushes us into autopilot, rushing from task to task, escaping the stillness. Yet the journey inward is the key to awakening your truest self.

Travel within and explore this sacred space. Don’t stay on the surface, let your soul speak to you in whispers of truth.

“The soul has been given its own ears to hear what the mind cannot understand.”

Rumi

Daily Practice

Today, find a sacred space, a quiet corner of your room, a place in nature, or anywhere you can be alone, and consider it as your private time with God.

Take a few deep breaths and connect with your soul.

Begin to sense your inner depth and essence.

Have a conversation with your soul.

Then write down any insights, feelings, or whispers you noticed.

Return to this practice often to deepen your connection with that sacred part of yourself.

Book Reference

“O seeker after the divine mysteries ! know thou that the door to the knowledge of God will be opened to a man first of all, when he knows his own soul, and understands the truth about his own spirit, according as it has been revealed, “he who knows himself knows his Lord also.”

“If thou should’st say, “I perfectly know myself,” we reply, that we have no doubt that what you are acquainted with is your own hand and foot, with your eye and mouth, and animals even have this kind of knowledge. You know also that if you are hungry, your stomach craves food, and that if you are cold, you desire clothing; but other animals also understand these things.”

“However, that knowledge of the soul which leads to the knowledge of God, is not of this kind. The knowledge which you need to possess is, to know what you are; how you are created; whence you are; for what you are here; whither you are going; in what your happiness consists, and what you must do to secure it; in what your misery consists, and what you must do to avoid it. You need to know, therefore, what qualities predominate in your character, and in the predominance of which your true happiness consists.”
