Open Your Heart
“Have they not travelled throughout the land so their hearts may reason, and their ears may listen? Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind.”

This verse reminds us that true understanding doesn’t come only from seeing with the eyes or thinking with the mind, but from a heart that is awake. God invites us to move through the world with presence, to travel, witness, and listen, so that our hearts may learn how to reason, feel, and recognize truth.
Blindness, the verse states, is not a physical condition. It is a quiet closing of the heart. When the heart disconnects, even the clearest signs can pass unnoticed. But when the heart is open, even ordinary moments begin to speak.
Ibn ʿAṭāʾillah wrote: “How can the heart be illumined while the forms of created things are reflected in its mirror?” He teaches that the heart is veiled not by a lack of signs, but by inward occupation. When the mirror of the heart becomes filled, it loses its ability to reflect truth.
Modern science echoes this wisdom. The heart contains its own network of neurons, often called the “heart brain,” capable of sensing, learning, and influencing emotions and decisions. We are designed to understand through the heart.
Spiritually, when we surrender and open our hearts to love and guidance, perception changes. We begin to hear the whispers, and see what was always present. May our hearts remain receptive, and illuminated, able to see beyond appearances, to listen beyond sound, and to recognize the Divine guidance woven quietly into every step.

Heart-Centered Listening: In conversations, practice listening with your heart. Focus on the emotions and intentions behind words, not just the words themselves.
Reflective Pause: Before reacting in any situation, pause. Ask yourself, “What is my heart telling me here?” Let this guide your response.
Limited Social Media: Set a specific, short time for social media use. Approach it with a questioning heart, seeking truth beyond appearances.
