Giving & Abundance
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies ˹the reward even more˺ to whoever He wills.”
Surah Al Baqarah 2:261
This ayah is magical; it reveals that God has blessed us with an abundant garden that grows through the seeds of giving. Although many people may view it as referring primarily to wealth, this verse can be expanded to include any act of kindness, which multiplies, in return. These seeds of goodness are already within you, all you have to do is water them through giving, and you’ll be surprised by the garden of flowers that grows through God’s blessings.
Science mirrors this truth. When you give, the brain releases dopamine (the reward chemical) and oxytocin (the love hormone). Researchers often refer to this experience as “the helper’s high,” a state that lifts your mood and eases stress. It is as if goodness multiplies inside you before it even reaches anyone else.
Neuroscience also teaches us that every act of kindness strengthens the brain pathways linked to joy and empathy. Every good deed becomes a tiny “seed” that shapes new patterns within you, allowing more goodness to grow.
Each act of giving, regardless of its form, multiplies, internally and externally. The Quran repeatedly mentions the blessings of giving. There is a tangible and mystical wealth that comes from this act. If we only knew how powerful it is, we would scatter more seeds everywhere we go. Giving is a way we unite as humans.

“If we stop the circulation of money, if our only intention is to hold on to our money and hoard it since it is life energy, we will stop its circulation back into our lives as well. In order to keep that energy coming to us, we have to keep the energy circulating.”
