Guidance
“Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and guide us rightly through our ordeal.”
Surah Al-Kahf 18:10
This is a beautiful prayer asking God for compassion and guidance to illuminate our path. Sometimes the way forward seems clear, but more often it is foggy and uncertain, leaving us feeling lost or demotivated. Yet our heart already knows the way. I often feel that God whispers to our hearts the deepest secrets that guide us back to our truth.
Through prayer, we open ourselves to Divine compassion, which soothes our hearts, and guidance, which helps us take the next step. Though we may not see the full picture, the signs around us become clearer, and trust slowly fills our being. A quiet strength rises within, and God’s guidance becomes our soul’s compass, leading us steadily toward clarity and purpose. As Rumi mentions, “What you seek is seeking you.” This prayer strengthens the relationship between the seeker and the sought, as if they are destined to meet one day by Divine timing.
The journey may be challenging, yet as mentioned in the verse, compassion and guidance come hand in hand in this prayer, one softens the struggle, while the other illuminates the way forward.
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
Martin Luther King Jr
Take a moment and bring to mind a situation where you need clarity.
Take a deep breath and gently say:
رَبَّنَآ اٰتِنَا مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَّهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ اَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا
“Our Lord, grant me Your mercy and guide me to what is right.”
Let the words settle in your heart. Trust that the Divine is already with you and hears the guidance you seek.
As you move through your day, repeat this verse whenever doubt arises, knowing that answers unfold in Divine timing.
Stay open. The sign may be subtle, a thought, a feeling, a conversation, or a shift in perspective.
Listen to your heart. Let it lead. The way will become clearer.
“Where are you going? Even if you have no basis for understanding what is happening to you, you are still having the undeniable experience of going somewhere. What you begin to feel is that you’re going into your spiritual being. As you associate less with the physical and psychological parts of your being, you begin to identify more with the flow of pure energy.
What does it feel like to identify more with Spirit than with form? You used to walk around feeling anxiety and tension; now you walk around feeling love. You just feel love for no reason. Your backdrop is love. “
The Untethered Soul – Michael A. Singer
“The Divine Whisper
When you’re lost,
don’t hide,
instead, seek
within your heart.
I’ve placed a compass,
you may call it a gut feeling,”
or a deep intuition;
It’s my voice,
guiding you:
to your truth.
Simply follow me.”
