Love & Forgiveness
“And He is the All-Forgiving, the All-Loving”
Surah Al-Buruj 85:14
We will never comprehend how forgiving and loving God is. We can often find ourselves trapped in a cycle of fear, yet this fear will only drive us away. It is only with the force of love that we can truly connect with our hearts and with the Divine. God is telling us that he will always love us and will always forgive us, all we need to do is reach out to him and ask for his forgiveness.
The name ‘Al-Wadūd’ stems from ‘wudd, an Arabic word conveying the meaning of love expressed through action or ‘being in touch.’ We are constantly in touch with God; all we need to do is be mindful of this connection, to feel it, breathe it, see it, and hear it. By doing this, we can infuse our lives with peace and spiritual fulfillment.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that God’s love for His servant is greater than a mother’s love for her child, reminding us that our return to Him is always welcomed with compassion.
“Lose your soul in God’s love, I swear there is no other way.”
Rumi
Dedicate a specific time today to deeply contemplate the vastness of God’s forgiveness and love.
Think back to moments where you truly felt God’s love or a situation where you felt God really loves you, and showed.
Reflect God’s characteristics: “The Forgiving” (ٱلْغَفُورُ / Al-Ghafūr), by remembering anyone you can forgive, and “The Most Loving” (ٱلْوَدُودُ / Al-Wadūd) by radiating your love to everyone around you.
Forgive the past. It is over. Learn from it and let go. People are constantly changing and growing. Do not cling to a limited, disconnected, negative image of a person in the past. See that person now. Your relationship is always alive and changing.

My Love for You
One of the greatest Saints was Rabia al Adawiyya
We call her Rabia Sultana, because she was dressed in the
Robes of the Sultan.
She used to address the Lord:
“Oh my Lord, 1 am not coming to You because I am eager to get into Your paradise. I am also not coming to You because I am afraid of hell. I am free of that. I come to You through my love for You. You are the only One I can give myself to with full love. Even if there was no paradise and no hell, I would come to You. You must be praised. You must be respected. You must be obeyed.”
