The Natural Rhythm
“It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon,1 nor does the night outrun the day. Each is travelling in an orbit of their own”
Surah Ya-sin 36:40
This verse reminds us of the rhythm in nature, which echoes the rhythm within us. The more we return to nature, the more it teaches us about our pace. The sun and moon are symbols of light, time, and movement. Each honors its course, surrendering to its path, floating with grace and power toward its destination. There is no rushing, no striving to overtake. They move in perfect harmony, not colliding, not interrupting. The sun cannot take over the moon, and the moon cannot rush ahead of the sun. From this, reflections arise. How often we feel the pressure to be somewhere else, to move faster, to do more. Yet everything has its own time, its own season, its own cycle.
There’s wisdom in surrendering to your rhythm and trusting that you are exactly where you need to be. Sometimes, something must happen before you can arrive, perhaps inner growth, perhaps readiness. If what you wished for arrived too soon, it might overwhelm you or cause you to crash. When you begin to cooperate with the universe, with your body, its seasons and timing, a new perspective opens.
Though each thing moves in its own path, all flow within the same Divine ocean. This movement, ‘yasbahūn’, is not chaos but a gentle, loving rhythm. Your movement is not separate; everything is intertwined.
“Don’t be impatient for what you wish for. The moon travels slowly, but it crosses the town”
Rumi
Close your eyes and place a hand over your heart.
Say: “Like the sun and moon, I move in my own perfect orbit.”
Contemplate something in your life that you’ve felt the urge to make happen quickly, then let go and trust in a bigger plan and rhythm.
Then affirm:
– I let go of rush and pressure
– I welcome ease and Divine timing.
– I am on the right path
“To some, Alläh gives that which He holds back from others. Through such acceleration and delay, an equality comes to be among human beings that only manifests when they are open to one another and help one another, thus going into the state of complementing each other. Because what is lowered on one side is raised on the other. May you have the strength to accept that which is delayed and to take that which is accelerated.
There is nothing wrong. It may seem wrong if we have a precise picture of what is right, but if we look without any prejudice, nothing is wrong. We human beings can only ever see a part of the picture – never the entirety. All aspects of human life, the social and the individual, the spiritual and the material, form an indivisible whole and cannot be seen separately. So exercise discipline, for true discipline means to learn in a receptive way, to look at things without any preconception.”

“When it’s your time to create, create. When it’s your time to step forward and lead, step forward and lead. When it’s your time to bloom, bloom. When it’s your time to rest, rest. When it’s your time to learn, learn. When it’s your time to be led, be led, be led, be led.”
