Silence
“He said, “My Lord, give me a sign.” He said, “Your sign is that you shall not speak to the people for three days, except by gestures. And remember your Lord much, and praise in the evening and the morning.”
Surah Ali ‘Imran 3:41
When Prophet Zachariah prayed deeply for a child, God told him to remain silent for three days while remaining in a state of Holy remembrance; especially during dawn and evening. This reinforces the power of silence and the importance of turning inward to the universe that resides within us.
As God mentions remaining in Holy remembrance while silent, this sacred time is amplified when paired with key spiritual practices such as deep reflection (tafakkur), and remembrance of God (Thikr). In these moments, silence becomes prayer, and presence becomes worship.
Furthermore, in the world of healing whether in the West or East, silent retreats and meditation are increasingly popular, with figures like Joe Dispenza and Deepak Chopra, all advocating for the significance of silence and connecting to one’s source. It allows one to rely less on external factors, thinking the solution is “out there”, and instead turn toward the treasure that lies within us.
Scientifically, it has been shown that when our brain waves lower to theta or delta states, we access higher consciousness. Spiritually, silence combined with constant remembrance of God, transitions one into a spiritual state. This deepens your connection with the unseen world and amplifies your connection to God, bringing a sea of abundance into your life.
“Silence is the language of God, all else is poor translation”

Start your morning with 10 – 60 minutes of silence, depending on your schedule.
Try to set your alarm slightly earlier than everyone in your family to secure an undisturbed window. In your silent time, focus on:
Add a 10-minute silent pause before sunset to calm the mind and reset your heart.
For those who are able to: wake up a few minutes before Fajr (dawn prayer) to sit in the stillness of the early hours, a time known to carry immense energy and blessings.
“Imagine throwing a little stone into a still pond and watching it ripple. Then, after a while, when the ripples settle down, perhaps you throw another little stone. That’s exactly what you do when you go into the field of pure silence and introduce your intention. In this silence, even the faintest intention will ripple across the underlying ground of universal consciousness, which connects everything with everything else.”

“Franz Kafka, the Austrian philosopher and poet, once said, “You need not leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. You need not even listen, simply wait. You need not even wait, just learn to become quiet, and still, and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked. It has no choice; it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.”
