Day 3:

Generosity

“and give from what We have provided for them.”

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:3

Coaching Insight

This beautiful verse encourages us to give from anything we have been blessed with. The word ‘rizq’ (Divine provision) is often associated with money, but it extends far beyond material wealth. Here, it refers to any blessings, talents, or skills that God has given us, whether it’s sharing knowledge, guiding others, offering kindness through a smile, or providing support in moments of need. We are called to share our gifts with others because, in doing so, we not only expand our own abundance but also fuel the collective whole with light, growth, and purpose.

Giving your gifts also means awakening gifts in others. Consider this: if you are a coach and you’ve been given an inspirational voice, you could keep that voice hidden or share it through a podcast, writing, or another form of expression. Your words (your gift) can spark hope in others, helping them unfold their own potential and creating a ripple effect of illumination and possibility.

We also need to remember, as the Sufi mystics say, that when you give from your heart, you are not the giver, you are simply the channel through which God gives. Giving becomes an act of remembrance: a way of dissolving the ego, awakening the heart, and recognizing that nothing truly belongs to us. Everything is from God, placed in our care so we may give it back to the world.

As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way.

Daily Practice

In your journal, draw a line down the middle.

At the top, write “Ya Allah Ya Wahab” (meaning “God, the Giver of Gifts”).

On the left side, list your tangible gifts (e.g., belongings, resources, items you can offer).

On the right side, list your intangible gifts (e.g., talents, skills, qualities like uplifting others or offering guidance).

Using a different colour, mark the items from each list that you can give, share, or offer to someone today

Take action on at least one item today, and set an intention to be a channel through which ‘Rizk’ (Divine provision) flows.

Book Reference

“This harmonious interaction of elements and forces in your life operates as the Law of Giving. Because your body and your mind and the universe are in constant and dynamic exchange, stopping the circulation of energy is like stopping the flow of blood. Whenever blood stops flowing, it begins to clot, to coagulate, to stagnate. That is why you must give and receive in order to keep wealth and affluence or anything you want in life circulating in your life.

Like a river, money must keep flowing, otherwise it begins to stagnate, to clog, to suffocate and strangle its very own life force. Circulation keeps it alive and vital.”

The Seven Spiritual laws of success – Deepak Chopra

“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Every joint of a person must perform a charity each day that the sun rises: to judge justly between two people is a charity. To help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it, is a charity. And the good word is a charity. And every step that you take towards the prayer is a charity, and removing a harmful object from the road is a charity.””

Hadith Qudsi – Al-Bukhari – Muslim

Hello I’m your gift
I see you’ve kept me
With my wrapping
Hidden in the dark
A sealed secret
Covered in plastic

Yet I yearn to be known
Opened and shared
Please don’t wait!
Unwrap me, hold me, use me
As I am your precious gift
Yet in essence a gift to others
