Posture
“Who is ˹rightly˺ guided: the one who crawls facedown or the one who walks upright on the Straight Path?”
Surah Al-Mulk 67:22
I love these Holy words: ‘the one who walks upright on the Straight Path’. If we reflect on this ayah in terms of body language, while remembering that there are always infinite deeper meanings; the aspect of posture and presence are immense. The verse also refers to holding yourself upright on the straight path in life; as they go hand in hand.
Science reveals that walking with straight posture allows the body to release feel-good hormones, positively impacting our mindset and attitude. This alignment also allows breath and energy to flow smoothly, enhancing the state of feeling truly alive.
Misalignment in the spine can lead to muscle tightness, fatigue, and pain.
In a difficult conversation, notice how the body reacts ,the shoulders round, the breath shortens. This is the moment to remember those holy words: “the one who walks upright on the Straight Path.” Your posture becomes a silent prayer, reminding you that no one can take away the dignity God placed within you.
Your body is a precious gift; use it right and treat it well. Spiritual discussions often focus on the heart and soul, but your body is the vehicle that carries you around. A straight posture boosts your confidence, sharpens your approach and allows you to walk your path with grace.
“Walking with posture allows our brain to literally be on top of our heart, a physical and spiritual alignment.”

Mindful Posture Check: Set alarms or reminders on your phone with messages like “Sit/Stand Up Straight” to remind you throughout the day to correct your posture.
Mirror Check: Use mirrors around you as a tool to check your posture. Each time you pass a mirror, take a moment to adjust your stance.
Yoga or Stretching: Engage in simple yoga poses or stretching exercises that emphasize spinal alignment, such as Mountain Pose: stand with feet grounded, spine tall, shoulders relaxed, chest open, and breathe slowly while feeling rooted and lifted.
Phone Posture Awareness: When using your smartphone, be mindful of “tech neck.” Instead of looking down, bring your phone up to eye level. This can prevent slouching and reduce strain on your neck and spine.
