Abundance
“And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me Salat (prayer), and Zakat, as long as I live.”
Surah Maryam 19:31
The energy Jesus carried was endless ‘baraka’. While ‘baraka’ is often translated as “blessings,” its meaning is far richer. It implies a living stream of divine abundance that flows through a person and into the world around them.
This verse contains some of Jesus’s first words in Surah Maryam. Wherever he went, he carried with him a wave of baraka. His presence itself was a blessing to people, places, and moments.
Alongside this abundance, he was given two anchors: prayer and generosity. Prayer (salat) represents connection. The Arabic root ‘sila’ suggests a continuous bond with the Divine. ‘Zakat’ represents purification and generosity, allowing what we have to flow outward to others and cleansing the heart.
Of course, these words refer to Jesus, peace be upon him. The prophets carry a sacred and unique essence given to them by God. Yet the Qur’an invites us not only to read its verses, but to reflect upon them and mirror their wisdom in our own lives.
From that perspective, we may reflect on what energy we carry into the spaces we enter.
‘Baraka’ is not only something given; it is also something we can grow. When the heart stays connected, our energy and presence change.
Perhaps the invitation today is simple. Wherever you go, carry presence, kindness, and love. In doing so, you may discover that baraka quietly follows you, blessing every place you step.
“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Jesus
Reflect on the miracle of Jesus:
how every space he entered blossomed with ‘baraka’- blessings.
Renew your intention to connect to Allah
and to spread love wherever you go.
Know that your intention will physically impact your vibrations
and will be felt by people.
“O Birther! Father – Mother of the Cosmos
Focus your light within us – make it useful.
Create your reign of unity now –
through our fiery hearts and willing hands
Help us love beyond our ideals
and sprout acts of compassion for all creatures.
Animate the earth within us: we then
feel the Wisdom underneath supporting all.
Untangle the knots within
so that we can mend our hearts’ simple ties to each other.
Don’t let surface things delude us,
But free us from what holds us back from our true purpose.
Out of you, the astonishing fire,
Returning light and sound to the cosmos.
Amen.”
