Day 70:

The Eye Of The Heart

مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ

“The ˹Prophet’s˺ heart did not doubt what he saw.”

Surah An-Najm 53:11

Coaching Insight

This verse was revealed about the beloved Prophet (PBUH) on the night of Isrāʾ and Miʿrāj, the night he was carried in love through the heavens. He journeyed with the Angel Jibrīl, who accompanied him only as far as he was permitted, while the Prophet (PBUH) continued onward alone to meet God.

When this story reached people, some questioned its reality. Yet Allah affirmed it, declaring that the heart did not lie about what it saw.

When the heart sees, a hidden truth is unveiled, beyond sound and form. It is a whisper placed by God into the heart, and once it is received, it becomes a sacred knowing, too intimate to be fully spoken.

We may not experience actual travelling like this story, yet it inspires us to believe we experience a knowing beyond the norm, a calling or vision that rests deep inside. To welcome this kind of seeing, we are sometimes called to step away from noise and distractions. In the quiet, inner vision grows like a seed  in the dark, trusting the unseen until it opens toward the light.

Trust what your heart is shown. Trust what it hears. Do not allow doubt to close that door. There is a language far richer than anything here on Earth, a secret language between man and God.

Ibn ʿArabī teaches that the heart has an inner eye, one that knows truths no reasoning alone can reach.

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (The Little Prince)

Daily Practice

Close your eyes and rest your hand over your heart.

Whisper the verse: “مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰ.” “The ˹Prophet’s˺ heart did not doubt what he saw.”

Look deeper within – what is your heart seeing that you may be too afraid to see with your own eyes?

Be still, as sometimes the heart sees what the physical eye cannot.

Trust this secret vision. It is God’s gift to you.

Book Reference

“Listen to your heart. It knows all things, because it came from the Soul of the World, and it will one day return there.”

“Wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”

“You will never be able to escape from your heart, so it’s better to listen to what it has to say. That way, you’ll never have to fear an unanticipated blow.”

The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

“Wisdom is not obtained by man, but is given to him by Allah.

After having been elevated to that state, the wise become intimate with the secrets of Allah. Allah brings one to His secrets only if one’s heart is alive and conscious with the remembrance of Him, and if that conscious heart has the wish to receive the truth. As our Master the Prophet ﷺ says, ‘My eyes sleep, but my heart is ever awake’.”
